Weiner church added to historic register

St. Anthony Church Historic District in Weiner was added to the National Register of Historic Places, a program of the National Park Service administered in Arkansas by the Arkansas Historic Preservation Program. The “St. Anthony’s Catholic Church Historic District” consists of the Colonial-Revival-style church, designed by Memphis architect Henry J. Kramer and built in 1937. The property also includes a rectory, school, convent, pumphouse, garage, shrine and basketball court.

The Arkansas review board met in August to approve of St. Anthony Church being added to the list but had to wait for national approval for it to become official.
