Top writers appear in Arkansas Catholic

Freelancer writers Aprille Hanson Spivey of Conway and Dwain Hebda of Little Rock earned writing awards for their work in Arkansas Catholic during the annual Arkansas Press Women’s Professional Communications Contest May 18 at The Villa Marre in Little Rock. Work produced in 2023 was eligible to compete.

Spivey earned first place in religion for “Two families in Little Rock lose homes but not their faith”; second place award for “A Quiet Place for You and Jesus”; and third place for “How to cope when your child has left the Catholic Church” special section; and two honorable mentions.

Hebda took home third place for “New club has these students in it for the long run” and an honorable mention. Hebda, founder and president of Ya!Mule Wordsmiths, won the APW’s Sweepstakes Award.
