“The first three months, I struggled,” Father “The first three months, I struggled,” Father Ravi Gudipalli said. “It was discipline, getting up at 5:30 a.m. I slowly got used to the formation. When I was in 10th grade, my parents said, ‘Come back home. One (from a family) is enough to become a priest.’ And I said, ‘No, I want to continue.’ Then, after 12th grade, I said, ‘I want to become a priest.’”

One evening, while Joel Brackett and Duwan Booker One evening, while Joel Brackett and Duwan Booker were studying the Bible together, Booker made a rather prophetic statement. 
“I didn’t really know my faith — I didn’t know anything about my Catholic faith hardly. We sat down together and Duwan said, ‘We are either both going to end up Catholic, or we are both going to end up Protestant.’”
A year later, Booker entered the Catholic Church, and Brackett began getting more involved at St. Joseph Church in Conway. Brackett will be ordained a priest May 31.

“They’re so positive and they’re so eager to “They’re so positive and they’re so eager to do what they need to do to reconstitute their family and their community,” Lachowsky said. “Their identity as a community is so strong … and they found St. Mary’s and they found different economic opportunities.
