Lenten symbols are placed before the altar at St. Anne Church in North Little Rock. For the past three years, Hannah Woeltje has prepared the altar for Lent. The items include a cross, crown of thorns, three nails and a hammer, a rooster, dice, 30 pieces of silver, desert sand, Roman lance, chalice, bread and pitcher of vinegar. Deacon Fred Molina said, “Parishioners are able to reflect on these items and remember the different moments that Jesus encountered them. It keeps the mood of Lent alive in the parish.”
