Each year since 2003, the Baby Sharon Fund has provided critical financial support to needy families dealing with catastrophic illness in their young children. Funds are awarded by an advisory council, comprised mainly of Arkansas Catholics, to meet transportation, housing, utilities and sibling childcare expenses for those parents struggling to pay bills while caring for a very sick child. In 2024, the BSF helped 65 families, primarily at Arkansas Children’s Hospital in Little Rock, with grants totaling $95,286. This was made possible by funds from the Arkansas Legislature and individual donors through the state income tax check-off or donations to the BSF website (babysharonfund.arkansas.gov).
