Homeless get toys and essentials at 20th Christmas caravan event

The 20th Annual Christmas Caravan provided toys, blankets, clothing, coats, sleeping bags, breakfast and more to the homeless and near homeless Saturday, Dec. 21 at St. Mark Baptist Church in Little Rock. Immaculate Conception Catholic Youth Ministry in North Little Rock and St. Mark Baptist Church organized the event, which was spearheaded by Immaculate Conception former youth minister Christie Powell. Hundreds of needy lined up in freezing conditions and filled sacks with items. Immaculate Conception School provided hot chocolate, and the parish Men’s Club and Immaculate Conception Knights of Columbus Council 18219 distributed 300 breakfast sandwiches. Council 18219 also provided two boxes of children’s coats.
