Wife of senior deacon set example for Catholic women

Suzanne “Suzy” Clare Campbell Gieringer, wife of senior deacon Wally Gieringer and a member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Church in Hot Springs Village, died Dec. 10. She was 94.

Born in Dayton, Ohio, Dec. 18, 1929, Gieringer met her husband at Wright Patterson Air Force Base, where she was a secretary. The couple lived in Missouri before moving to Pine Bluff, then retiring in Hot Springs Village, where her husband served as a deacon after his ordination in 1986. No matter where she lived, Gieringer was involved in the local Catholic church and civic and charitable organizations. The Gieringers traveled the world, taking trips to the Holy Land and Medjugorje. She is survived by her husband, her sons and grandchildren.

A rosary at 10:00 a.m., followed by a funeral Mass at 11:00 a.m., was held Dec. 16 at Christ the King Church in Little Rock.
