Construction of the Columbarium Garden at Blessed Sacrament Church in Jonesboro began recently. A groundbreaking was held Oct. 23. The burial niches will consist of five columbarium units, one octagon and four rectangular units. Room is available to add an additional four rectangular units in the future. The initial garden will consist of 392 niches, which can accommodate 624 urns/sets of remains.

While there is a Catholic cemetery in Jonesboro, only a few open plots remain. Pastor Msgr. Friend asked the facilities manager Lisa Golden to investigate adding a columbarium on the church property in 2021.
