Christ the King School Student Council in Fort Smith made a significant impact in supporting disaster relief efforts, raising $5,000 for Catholic Charities’ Hurricane Helene and Milton Disaster Assistance Programs.

The funds were raised through the school’s innovative candy voucher program, which encouraged students and families to purchase vouchers. The Student Council then voted at its October meeting to donate the funds through this program to hurricane relief.

This initiative reflects the school’s commitment to instilling the values of service, compassion and community in its students.

Principal Myndi Keyton said, “We are so proud of our students and their desire to help others. This is the Catholic faith in action.”

The candy voucher program was designed not only as a fun treat for students on Fridays but also as a meaningful way to give back to those in need. The funds will directly support families affected by the recent hurricanes, providing much-needed relief and assistance.

Catholic Charities gives 100 percent of donations directly to those in need and does not take out any administrative costs.
