Mount St. Mary alum rallied community after wreck

Mary Ellen Drake, a member of Christ the King Church in Little Rock, who became well-known across the Catholic community in Arkansas following a car wreck when she was 16, died May 2. She was 31. 

Drake and her family became champions for others who also suffered traumatic brain injury. The family founded Miracles for Mary, which benefits families coping with brain injuries. 

She is survived by her parents, Patti and Jim Drake; and two brothers, Paul Drake and Michael Drake.

A visitation will be held at 9:30 a.m., Monday, May 13 at Christ the King Church, followed by a rosary and funeral Mass beginning at 11 a.m.
