LITTLE ROCK

While it can be easy to get caught up in the rush of college life, Alondra Morales proves it’s still possible to be active in parish life. A student at UA-Little Rock and a parishioner at St. Edward Parish in Little Rock, Morales has found a balance between school and faith.

“When it comes to anything with school and work, I leave it at school and work,” Morales said. “But when it comes to faith, I always have time for it. And whenever I have that free time, I'll take it and try to make time for myself within my faith.”

Morales, 21, is the youth group leader at St. Edward in addition to being an usher and helping out with the parish’s young adult group. She hopes to graduate from UALR this fall and begin a radiology program at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences, but Morales also plans to stay strong in her faith.

“I’ll obviously keep attending Mass on Sundays and whenever I can, but I also hope to share the faith and spread it and be around others that have that same faith.”

Morales said she feels a calling to give back to her parish community.

“It makes me feel really good,” she said. “It also puts a smile on people's faces whenever I see them around and they see me around church being helpful or doing the little things, and that's something that motivates me.”
