The Divine Mercy Shrine will open at St. Edward Church in Little Rock Sunday, June 11, the feast of Corpus Christi. The diocesan shrine was created by the Diocese of Little Rock as part of the diocesan synod process and the eucharistic revival.
A special bilingual Mass will be celebrated at 12:30 p.m. at the Cathedral of St. Andrew in Little Rock with Bishop Anthony B. Taylor as the celebrant. Parishioners will then process one mile to St. Edward Church. Bishop Taylor will bless the new image of the Divine Mercy and pray the Chaplet of Divine Mercy followed by the official signing of the decree of creating a diocesan shrine. The event will conclude with Benediction. Light refreshments will be served after the ceremony.
The shrine will be open daily. On Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays, adoration and confessions in English and Spanish will be available from 5-6 p.m. Adoration and confessions will also be available during the hour of mercy, 3 p.m., on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays.
“This shrine will be at, and will serve as, a place of pilgrimage, adoration and reconciliation,” Bishop Taylor told Arkansas Catholic in December.
