Arkansas winner of Longest Married Couple Project announced

Frank and Betty Vorster, members of Our Lady of Good Counsel Church in Little Rock, are the state winners of the Longest Married Couple Project. The Longest Married Couple Project is sponsored by Worldwide Marriage Encounter, a marriage enrichment program. Frank, 94, and Betty, 90, have been married for 69 years.

The Vorsters were married on Oct. 2, 1951 at Sts. Peter and Paul Church in Morrison Bluff. They have six children, four of whom are deceased, and two grandchildren.

“It is an honor to announce that Frank and Betty are the Arkansas winners,” explained WWME nominators and fellow parishioners, Anne and Michael Mancino. “We plan on recognizing them virtually at Our Lady of Good Counsel Church and sharing this honor throughout the diocese. Their loving commitment to each other for 69 years has served as an example and an inspiration to all married couples.”
