Bishop Anthony B. Taylor will bless grounds for the new construction project for Blessed Sacrament Church in Jonesboro on Friday, June 19 at 6 p.m. at the church property located at 1107 E. Highland Drive.
The new construction project will include an extension of the current parish life center, kitchen equipment and a storage building. The parish recently built a new church at this location and joined the school and life center. The addition will allow additional space for school activities, office space, receptions, parish education, and the annual fall festival.
“The building committee has been waiting for the right time financially to begin this project and we are very much in need of more space,” Father Alphonse Gollapalli, pastor at Blessed Sacrament, said. “Everyone in our parish will benefit from the new construction and we are very excited to get started and to have Bishop Taylor bless our new construction.”
The total cost of the renovation is estimated at $1,899,000 and Nabholz Construction is the contractor. The parish has already raised some of the funds but will be selling memorial bricks and pews to help offset the costs. Anyone interested in purchasing a brick or a pew or in donating to the project may contact the church office at (870) 932-2529.
