Mildred "Millie" Madonna Stroud, of Wynne died Feb. 13, 2017 at Methodist Germantown. She was 78.
Millie was born on June 21, 1938, in Oak Park, Ill., to Edward James Rogers and Mildred Anne Kalousek Rogers. She received many 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place music awards from competitions at Loyola and Mundelein University in Chicago during grammar school. She was a former JPC Sponsor and a former Wynne High School Band Booster member. Millie was a member of the Crowley's Ridge Girl Scout Council where she served as council trainer and Girl Scout Council Green Circle Coordinator. She held many positions in the Girl Scouts in the west Cross County Association, such as leader, trainer, recruiter and consultant. Millie received the Appreciation Pin in 1988, the 4th highest award given by the Girl Scouts, she received many outstanding achievement awards form the Girl Scout Council as well.
She was a member of St. Peter Church where she served as a lector, organist and in the church choir. She was a member of St. Peter's PTO, and St. Peter's Altar Society. She was a former CCD religious education teacher and a former cook and housekeeper for the parish priest as well.
Millie was preceded in death by her husbands, John Albert Martinsen Sr. and Jewel F. Stroud, her parents Edward J. Rogers and Mildred A. Kalousek Rogers, and stepson, Chuck Stroud.
Survivors are her sons, John Martinsen and wife Janie of Wynne, James Martinsen and wife Judy of Wynne, stepsons, Allen Stroud and Randy Stroud of Illinois, daughter, Julie Strange and husband Tommy of Mississippi, stepdaughter, Carol Ann Carr of Illinois, grandchildren, Samantha Strange and Andy Martinsen, great-grandchild, Casey Strange, 15 step-grandchildren and nine great step- grandchildren. Services wee Saturday, Feb. 18 at St. Peter Church in Wynne with burial in Crosslawn Cemetery.
