On Sept. 30 the Knights of Columbus Council 10208 in Hot Springs Village joined New Beginnings Pregnancy Resource Center in Benton in a ribbon-cutting ceremony at New Beginnings to celebrate the purchase of new ultrasound equipment. The purchase was possible through the generosity of many Knights of Columbus, New Beginnings and other supporters who contributed to the “Baby Bottle Campaign” conducted by Council 10208. Attending the ribbon cutting were past grand knights Dave Johnston and Bob Honzik as well as Jim Dyar and Jim Goodson, pro-life director.
Kim Puska, director at New Beginnings Pregnancy Resource Center, said having the ultrasound will save many babies from abortion.
The Knights of Columbus launched a new initiative in 2009 aimed at providing women considering abortion a new way of viewing the life within them. As of August 2016, many local and state councils have qualified for matching funds from the Knights of Columbus Supreme Council office toward the purchase of more than 700 ultrasound machines at a cost of more than $21 million. Without Knights of Columbus support, most pregnancy resource centers would be unable to buy the machines.
