Kurt McAfee shares a bit of his wife Kayla’s second-place homemade chili “K-Mac Beer Chili” with a fellow patron of the Third Annual Brewtober Chilifest Oct. 1 at St. Raphael Church in Springdale.

The event includes both a chili cook-off as well as a brewing competition with several local hobby brewers. While parishioners and local residents tasted their way through more than 50 chilies and 22 home brews, they enjoyed live music, a silent auction and the unique glass artwork of local artist Samuel Moses.
