Diane Wolfe has announced her resignation as principal of Mount St. Mary Academy in Little Rock, effective immediately. News of the change was released by the school via a June 25 press release.
The release did not specify a reason for the resignation. Sarah Johnson, Mount St. Mary director of communications, confirmed that Wolfe is not remaining with the school in an alternate capacity. Prior to taking over the principal’s office in 2009, Wolfe was for three years an instructor of the all-girls school’s math department.
Karen Flake, president and CEO of the school, sent an e-mail to parents, board members, faculty and staff on the matter. In it, she thanked Wolfe, “for her leadership and service to Mount St. Mary Academy over the past five years as principal and for her unfailing commitment, as both an educator and an administrator, to our young women and the mission of this school.”
Assistant principal Angie Collins will serve as interim principal. Collins, a 22-year veteran of the classroom, taught chemistry, honors chemistry and anatomy/physiology at Mount St. Mary prior to taking the assistant principal role.
Johnson would not speculate on the duration of the interim arrangement, saying only that the new executive would be in place, “as we enter the new school year.” The first day of the 2014-2015 school year is Aug. 19.
