Bishop Anthony B. Taylor sent this letter to pastors and diocesan staff recently to update them on the health of Bishop Emeritus Andrew J. McDonald, who retired in 2000.

"I want to advise you that Bishop McDonald was moved from his room at St. Joseph Home in Palantine, Ill., to their infirmary because of the serious nature of his declining health. Because the prospects of his recovery are not great, I am writing on his behalf to ask your special prayers for him. Bishop McDonald is a beloved priest and bishop, and has had such a wonderful history of praying for those in need, especially the sick and dying. I know he would appreciate your prayers for him and remembrances at Mass."
