If you have ever driven by St. Andrew Church on Highway 62-412 in Yellville you could not help but see a bunch of crosses in the church yard.  The crosses were taken down for a time and people from other faiths commented on their absence. These crosses have a very special meaning. Recently the youth group of the church painted all 90 crosses. There are 81 white crosses. One white cross represents 50 aborted babies in Arkansas for approximately 4,050 abortions. There are nine red crosses representing the nine babies aborted in Marion County in the past year. These crosses serve as a reminder that lives are being affected every day.

Abortion does not just happen to one person, it happens to a family.  Catholics believe children are not an inconvenience, they are gifts from God.  They are meant to be respected and protected.  If people believe it is OK to kill an innocent baby, what is to stop them from killing a handicapped person or an elderly person?  Life should be protected from womb to tomb.  The crosses also serve as a reminder that there is love, forgiveness and healing.

There is a Life Chain event held every year and this year it is Sunday, Oct. 6 beginning at 2 p.m. and ends at 3 p.m. This is event is held across this country and in many places around the world.  In Yellville, people will meet at the courthouse square to receive a poster/sign and they will silently line up and down the street holding signs asking for prayer for families for an end to abortion.
