Seminarians’ kickball tournament to fund Search

The first Kick’n It with the Seminarians kickball tournament for high school students will be held Saturday, Aug. 17 at Christ the King Church in Little Rock.

The co-ed tournament, which will begin at 8 a.m., will support the diocesan Search program for high school juniors and seniors. The tournament will be limited to 20 teams.

“The invaluable prayer and support that the youth of the Diocese of Little Rock has given to the seminarians does not go unnoticed. The youth’s prayer for vocations is undoubtedly a key component as to why the number of seminarians continues to rise, so the seminarians have decided to show their gratitude with this tournament. They want this tournament to be a great time, as well as an opportunity to meet the youth of the Diocese of Little Rock,” the diocesan announcement on the tournament said.

Each team needs at least 10 players, with two of them being girls. The tournament will be pool play so each team is guaranteed to play a “few games.” The pools will determine the seeds for the championship bracket.

The team fee is $100 and includes a boxed lunch for each player. Teams are encouraged to create their own uniform and will be also judged on their creativity. Each team needs a captain, which can be a player, parent or friend.

T-shirts will be sold for $10 each.

Information packets are available here. Registration should be mailed to the diocesan Vocations Office at 2500 N. Tyler St., Little Rock, AR 72207 by Aug. 1. Contact Maria Izquierdo-Roque at mizquierdo@dolr.org or (501) 664-0340 to request an application or for more information.
