Fall weather means parish festival time

Cooler weather brought out food, games and fun across the diocese as many parishes hosted annual autumn festivals. Arkansas Catholic photographers were on hand at several celebrations in central and northwest Arkansas.

St. Edward Church in Little Rock celebrated its Oktoberfest Oct. 13 and 14. A parish talent show, carnival games, music and lots of authentic Mexican food were among the main attractions.

The annual St. Vincent de Paul Parish Festival was held Sunday, Sept. 30, to celebrate and honor the parish's patron saint. The day's festivities kicked off after the 8 a.m. Mass and included performances by the Subiaco Academy Jazz Ensemble and the middle school's choir and band as well as ethnic food, games and a car and motorcycle show.

On Sunday, Oct. 21, Our Lady of the Holy Souls Church in Little Rock held its annual Fall Fest. Attractions included a dunking booth, face painting and other games of skill. Congregants also enjoyed a spaghetti lunch that filled the parish hall to standing-room-only capacity.

Ghosts and goblins crowded the grounds at North Little Rock Catholic Academy Oct. 27 for the Halloween Festival. Traffic was brisk at booths featuring games for the young and young-at-heart, as was bidding on gift baskets prepared by the school's various grades. A chili cook-off and costume contest rounded out the day's activities.
