The Guardian Angels campaign so far has funded 16 years of digital archiving, but Arkansas Catholic seeks more donations to help preserve the remaining 75 paper volumes of The Guardian and Arkansas Catholic archives.
The 2012-2013 campaign to raise $15,000, enough to preserve another 10 years of newspapers, kicks off this weekend. The Guardian Angels campaign was launched by the diocesan newspaper in 2010 in preparation for its 100th anniversary. Since that time, donors have given nearly $30,000 to help Arkansas Catholic carefully scan the brittle newsprint and process the digital files to make them searchable.
All scanned issues from 1911 to 1926 and 1945 are available by clicking on the archives link at www.arkansas-catholic.org.
Individuals, families, parishes and Catholic organizations can “adopt” a year that has special meaning to them or in honor or memory of someone, for as little as $1,000.
Donors are also invited to send personal prayer intentions to be included in a Mass celebrated by Bishop Anthony B. Taylor during Advent. A special “Christmas Card” will be published in the Dec. 22 issue to recognize all donors.
It is estimated to cost at least $75,000 to finish the digital preservation project over the next several years.
The campaign’s five “circles” of giving recognize donors for their contributions: 
Angel Circle: $25 to $99 donation Archangel Circle: $100 to $499 Cherubim Circle: $500 to $999 Seraphim Circle: $1,000 to $9,999 Annunciation Circle: $10,000 or more.
