The Diocese of Little Rock will celebrate the 40th anniversary of the episcopal ordination of Bishop Emeritus Andrew J. McDonald with a Mass at the Cathedral of St. Andrew in Little Rock at 6 p.m., Friday, Sept. 7.
Concelebrants for the Mass will be Archbishop J. Peter Sartain of Seattle and Bishop Anthony B. Taylor. A reception will follow in McDonald Hall. The celebration is open to the public and invitations are not required.
Born to a devout Irish Catholic family, Bishop McDonald was the 11th of 12 children. All of his siblngs are deceased.
Bishop McDonald was ordained a bishop on Sept. 5, 1972, in Savannah, Ga., and installed as bishop of Little Rock on Sept. 7, 1972.
