Third grader Cameron Martin and his toad “Joe” participate in the preliminary toad jumping contest April 25 at St. Joseph Primary School in Conway to determine the school’s representative for Toad Suck Daze’s “Jump for Education” May 5.
Each school in the area will send one contestant to compete for prizes that include a computer for their campus and a gift certificate for their teacher. The money raised through Toad Suck Daze events is geared to supporting education, including the awarding of college scholarships.
Third-grader Mary Alex Lieblong, with her toad “Bud,” was the overall winner for St. Joseph and will represent her school at Toad Suck Daze. Second-grader Jared Sanders and “Bobcat” came in second. Truman Martin and his toad “Bob” won first place for the third- grade boys. Megan Garrett and “Speedo” did the same for the second grade Girls. Clayton Vote and “Spot” were the lone entrants for the first grade. The kindergarten winners were Megan Smith and “Hoppy” and Nicholas Covington and “Cheese.”
