Suspected child maltreatment reported at Morrilton school

The Diocese of Little Rock issued the following statement March 27 regarding an alleged case of child maltreatment.
“During the week of March 11, the administration at Sacred Heart School in Morrilton received an allegation concerning a high school teacher that was deemed to be reasonable cause to suspect that child maltreatment had occurred. The alleged victim is a student in the school. The allegation was reported to the State Child Abuse Hotline and the teacher was placed on administrative leave. It is our understanding that the appropriate civil authorities are actively investigating the allegation at this time.
“No further details of the allegation can be disclosed pending the outcome of the civil investigation. The parents and students at the school have been informed about this situation and will be kept informed to the extent possible while respecting the rights of the individuals involved in the allegation.”
