Garrett Cole Uekman, a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Church in North Little Rock (Marche) and a member of the Razorback football team, died Nov. 20. He was 19.
He was born on June 22, 1992, and attended Immaculate Heart of Mary School and later attended Catholic High School for Boys in Little Rock. He was a dedicated student and played baseball, basketball and football. He played a contributing role in the basketball state championship title for CHS in 2008. He always dreamed of playing football for the Arkansas Razorbacks and pursued his dream. He signed with the Razorbacks in spring 2010 and had visions of making his “mark” in football.
He is survived by his parents, Danny and Michelle Uekman; one sister, Meagan Uekman; and his grandparents, Marie Bennett and Ed and Ida Jane Uekman.
A rosary was held at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church Nov. 27. A Mass of Christian Burial was held Nov. 28 at Christ the King Church in Little Rock. A private burial service will be held at a later date. Memorials can be made to the Catholic High School Foundation Garrett Uekman Scholarship Fund.
