Last September Pope Benedict issued an apostolic exhortation to complete the work of the Synod on the Word of God held in 2008. He called it Verbum Domini, “Word of the Lord,” to link it to Dei Verbum, “Word of God,” the Constitution on Divine Revelation from Vatican Council II, as a further reflection for the present time forty years later. After entering the seminary my spiritual family expanded
