Students at St. Edward School in Little Rock dig history.
On March 11, they placed a number of items in a time capsule, which will be opened in 25 years for the school’s 150th anniversary. The capsule included items from each class, a photograph of the pre-kindergarten and kindergarten students with Gov. Mike Beebe taken at the Capitol in February, coins, letters, Haiku poems, memories, predictions, Arkansas Catholic newspaper articles, business cards and a school directory.
The school also planted a Gem Magnolia and placed a plaque by the tree to mark the 125th anniversary, principal Jason Pohlmeier said.
Two former principals, Vernell Bowen and Theresa Hall, were in attendance. They are now the superintendent and associate superintendent, respectively, for the Catholic schools in the Diocese of Little Rock.
