Pastor Father James West holds his Maltese dog, Annabell, as he pauses during the annual pet blessing Oct. 2 at Immaculate Conception School in North Little Rock.
The event was held in honor of the feast of St. Francis of Assisi, which was celebrated Oct. 4. Following the school rosary in the church, Father West and the students walked out of the church into the lower parking area where parents were waiting with all types of pets, some in travel cages, some on leashes, many in their arms.
