A portrait of St. Thomas More stands in the sanctuary May 1 during the annual Red Mass at the Cathedral of St. Andrew in Little Rock. Clergy wear red vestments to signify the Holy Spirit.
On May 1, which is traditionally called Law Day, a Mass is celebrated for judges, lawyers and elected officials. The Mass is sponsored by the St. Thomas More Society and the Diocese of Little Rock.
In addition to 16 federal and state judges in attendance, Lt. Gov. Bill Halter and Secretary of State Dustin McDaniel participated. Assisting Bishop Anthony B. Taylor at the Mass were Deacon Bud Bryant (left), a lawyer from Pine Bluff, and Msgr. Scott Marczuk, a canon lawyer.
