Another 40 Days for Life campaign began on Ash Wednesday in Little Rock in front of the local abortion clinics. Bishop Anthony B. Taylor led the kickoff Feb. 22 at the Little Rock abortion clinic.
This year the vigil is expanding to two locations. Parishioners are invited to pray at Little Rock Family Planning Services in west Little Rock or the Planned Parenthood Clinic at 12th Street and University Avenue from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. every day through Palm Sunday, April 5. Little Rock Family Planning Services performs surgical abortions through 22 weeks of pregnancy. Planned Parenthood dispenses RU-486 to women and girls through eight weeks of pregnancy, which induces a chemical abortion.
“We want to start this effort by drawing members of the community together to share the vision of 40 Days for Life and to pray for God’s blessings on this effort. It is time to focus attention on the harm abortion has done to our city,” Little Rock coordinator Marti Haslauer said.
She said the Little Rock supporters will also be conducting a door-to-door community outreach campaign.
