Deacon Marcelino Luna (kneeling, far right) and Deacon Robert Wanless (standing, second row, far right) stand with the largest diaconate class for the Diocese of Little Rock Aug. 2 at St. John Center in Little Rock. For the first time, the diocese is hosting formation classes in Spanish as well as English. The class includes 52 men and their wives — 22 in the Spanish class and 30 in the English class. Each man was presented with a Bible and Catechism of the Catholic Church. The first weekend, Aug. 1-3, included courses on multiculturalism led by facilitators from the Mexican American Cultural Center in San Antonio, a Mexican fiesta with music, a barbecue lunch and Mass with Bishop Anthony B. Taylor.
