AC gets several awards in annual APW contest

Five contributors to Arkansas Catholic won 25 awards during the annual awards luncheon for the Arkansas Press Women June 7 at the Conservatory of Peel Mansion Museum in Bentonville.
Editor Malea Hargett won three first place awards in nondaily newspaper categories for news writing, editorial writing and publication regularly edited by entrant. She also won second place awards for editorial writing and feature story; third place for personality profile, special articles-religion, social issues and one honorable mention.
Associate editor Tara Little won two first place awards in special articles-religion and infrequent section edited by entrant for a nondaily newspaper. She also won four honorable mentions.
Hargett and Little shared a third place award in the nondaily newspaper category for news writing.
Production Manager Emily Roberts won four first place awards in page design for nondailies; Web site edited by entrant in the news category; and two in the retail category for advertising-color single ad and advertising campaign or series. She also won second and third in page design for nondaily newspapers.
Freelance writers Maryanne Meyerriecks won second place in special articles-religion and Susan Thielemier won third place for feature story in a nondaily and an honorable mention.
