Arkansans honored at CPA Convention

The Catholic Press Association handed out four awards to Arkansans during its annual awards banquet May 31 at the Catholic Media Convention in Ontario, Canada.
Two were presented to staff of Arkansas Catholic, one to Little Rock Bible study author, Stephen J. Binz, and the last to Kathy Neal, a member of Christ the King in Little Rock. The CPA includes diocesan and national Catholic publications in the United States and Canada.
Production manager, Emily Roberts, won first place for best Web site among all newspapers for Arkansas Catholic’s Web site, www.arkansas-catholic.org. The judges said, “Arkansas-Catholic.org makes you want to pour a second cup of coffee and spend quality time with this site.”
Associate Editor Tara Little won second place for best reporting on teenagers among all newspapers for her “Our Catholic Youth: Learning Today, Leading Tomorrow” special section published Nov. 3, 2007. The judges said, “Overall, Our Catholic Youth had a good variety of stories and was crisp and clean.”
Binz, author of Threshold Bible Study, won first place for Spanish language titles in the book category for “Introduccion a la Biblia,” published by Liturgical Press. Freelancer writer, Neal, won first place for best personality profile in the associate and individual freelance category for “Memory of Million Dollar Aunt Warms Christmas Spirit,” which ran in the Sooner Catholic in Oklahoma City.
