Msgr. J. Gaston Hebert announced last week that “a very limited number” of tickets will be available to parishioners in the Diocese of Little Rock to attend the April 20 Mass with Pope Benedict XVI at Yankee Stadium in New York City.
The Mass, with an expected attendance of 65,000, will be the last of the pope’s events during his six-day trip to Washington, D.C., and New York.
Msgr. Hebert’s office said a list is being compiled of interested travelers. Getting one’s name on the list doesn’t guarantee that a sufficient number of tickets will be made available for parishioners in the Little Rock diocese, the diocesan administrator’s office said. There is no charge for the tickets.
For security purposes, each person must provide the name, address and other information of each interested ticket holder by Monday, Jan. 21. Tickets cannot later be transferred to someone else.
Each person will have to show photo identification before he or she can enter the Mass. Because security will be tight, attendees should expect to be searched by members of the U.S. Secret Service or local police officers.
Arkansas travelers interested in attending the Mass should contact Jan Brass at (501) 664-0340 or jbrass@dolr.org.
