Hot Springs chaplain dies after heart failure

Father Paul Strassle, a retired diocesan priest, died Nov. 28 in Hot Springs after experiencing heart failure the day before. He was 74.
Father Strassle retired in 1993 and lived for many years in Fairfield Bay. He moved to St. John Manor in Little Rock last year but was recently asked to serve as chaplain for the Our Lady of Charity and Refuge sisters at Good Shepherd Home in Hot Springs.
The Houston, Ark., native was ordained at the Cathedral of St. Andrew in Little Rock on May 15, 1958, by Bishop Albert L. Fletcher.
Over the past 48 years, he has served in Tontitown, Blytheville, El Dorado, Batesville, Newport, Eureka Springs, Bigelow and Fairfield Bay.
A Mass of Christian Burial was held Nov. 30 at the Cathedral of St. Andrew with burial in Calvary Cemetery. There are no immediate survivors.
