On Mother’s Day, May 14, Father Henry Mischkowiuski, pastor of Sacred Heart of Mary Church in Barling, blesses a new monument for the unborn child on the church grounds. Dr. Doug and Carol Brown, members of Sacred Heart of Mary Church and Heart to Heart Pregnancy Center’s board of advisors, donated the monument to allow those who have lost a child, either through abortion, miscarriage or stillbirth, to have a place to come for healing and reflection. The monument has a picture of Jesus with the children with the words “Lost on earth, cherished in heaven.” The cross on the monument is a tribute to Pope John Paul II. When asked why they donated the monument, Doug Brown said, “As we have grown older, we increasingly realize the importance of faith in our lives. In witness of that faith, we placed this monument in the hope that people will think of unborn children and offer up a little prayer.”
