A farewell Mass for Bishop J. Peter Sartain will be celebrated at 6 p.m., Tuesday, June 20 at the Cathedral of St. Andrew in Little Rock. It will be followed by a reception in McDonald Hall. The Mass is the only event scheduled by the Diocese of Little Rock open to the general public, said Msgr. Francis I. Malone, who worked as a vicar general under Bishop Sartain.
A Mass and lunch with diocesan employees will be held June 12 at St. John Center in Little Rock. The next day at Christ the King Church in Little Rock, the bishop will celebrate Mass and have dinner with the priests of the diocese and deacons and their wives.
Msgr. Malone said Bishop Sartain would keep some of his scheduled appointments, such as confirmations and graduations, until his June 27 installation in Joliet. Msgr. Malone said the details have not been released about tickets to the June 27 Mass but seating is expected to be very limited.
