Dear Friends in Christ,
As we wait in great anticipation for our diocesan-wide Eucharistic Congress on Saturday, Oct. 29, 2005, I want to take this opportunity to invite you and your family’s participation in this wonderful observance to close out our diocesan Year of the Eucharist. As you know, the theme for the Year of the Eucharist in our diocese is “One Body in Christ,” and I pray that during this year you have been able to participate in the many special services made available by the parishes and to reflect on the Eucharist as a sign and means of unity within the Church.
The Eucharistic Congress will take place on the Arkansas State Fairgrounds campus on Saturday, Oct. 29, beginning at 9 a.m. and ending with Mass at 3:30 p.m. There will be talks on prayer and the holy Eucharist (in English and in Spanish), youth activities all day long, music, eucharistic adoration and confession, a eucharistic procession, and holy Mass. Booths will be set up all around the campus with promotional materials, vocations information, local Catholic art, Eucharistic Congress memorabilia and food. I am grateful to the committee for the wonderful job they have done in putting together this great day in the history of our diocese!
I encourage you to make every effort to attend the Eucharistic Congress on Saturday, Oct. 29! I know that the benefits and grace we receive that day will strengthen and renew all of us, especially as the people of the entire diocese come to worship together as “One Body in Christ”! You will come away renewed in faith and filled with God’s love for you!
With every best wish and prayer, I am
Sincerely in Christ
