How you can help
Support Catholic Charities of Arkansas’ Hurricane Recovery Office by sending monetary donations to the Diocese of Little Rock, Finance Office, P.O. Box 7239, Little Rock, AR 72217-7239. “Hurricane Relief Collection” should be included on the memo line.
Catholic Charities of Arkansas is collecting supplies for evacuees, including nonperishable foods, water, baby supplies and personal hygiene items. Items will be accepted Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at St. John Center at 2500 N. Tyler St. in Little Rock and the Catholic Charities Immigration Office at 2022 W. Sunset Ave. in Springdale.
To send money directly to support archdiocesan efforts, send a check or money order to Archdiocese of New Orleans, Hurricane Katrina Relief Fund, P.O. Box 715024, Columbus, OH 43271. To support the Diocese of Biloxi, send donations to Diocese of Biloxi, Hurricane Katrina Relief, 1790 Popps Ferry Road, Biloxi, MS 39532.
Catholic families, parishes and schools can adopt a parish or school in Biloxi. If you want to adopt a parish, e-mail Bragg Moore at bmoore@biloxidiocese.org. To adopt a school, e-mail Dr. Mike Ladner at mladner@biloxidiocese.org.
Other Catholic organizations are also receiving donations.
Knights of Columbus: Checks payable to Knights of Columbus Charities USA Inc. should be sent to: Knights of Columbus Charities USA Inc., Gift Processing Center, P.O. Box 9028, Pittsfield, MA 01202-9028, Attn: Hurricane Katrina Relief.
Catholic Extension: Donations may be made online at: www.catholicextension.org, or mailed to: Catholic Extension, Hurricane Emergency Relief, 150 S. Wacker Drive, 20th Floor, Chicago, IL 60606. Donors are asked to write “hurricane relief” on the memo portion of their checks.

Needing assistance?

Long-term assistance from the diocese will include financial aid, translation, referrals for counseling and mental health services, assistance in locating family and friends, coordination of services with other service providers and government agencies and referrals for medical care and prescription drugs.
The Archdiocese of New Orleans’s Web site, www.archdiocese-no.org, is posting updates on the status of churches, schools and priests. Other questions can be directed to the archdiocese at (888) 366-5024.

Schools
Parents who enrolled children in schools in the Archdiocese of New Orleans are asked to contact the Catholic schools office located now in Baton Rouge to report the status of their children’s education. E-mail the following information to sunny0039@cox.net: student name, New Orleans Catholic school the child was attending, where the child is attending school now and contact information.
Catholic schools in Arkansas have openings in several cities. There will be no charge for tuition, books, lunch and uniforms this school year. Contact Vernell Bowen, superintendent of Catholic schools in Arkansas, to find the closest school with openings and to learn more information.
